Two of the cities are in a different countries and two are in different states. Ashburn is the top city by a significant amount (233k) and it is no where near the NWTC campus. What is causing people from another state to visit a local college website at such a high rate?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ashburn, VA is home to major data centers (Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud). It commonly shows up in analytics as bots, crawlers and VPN traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My recommendations are as followed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Segment out Ashburn<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Create a comparison of all users and users excluding Ashburn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your following metrics improve dramatically without Ashburn:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Engagement rate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Time spent on site<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conversion rate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That confirms inaccurate information due to non-human traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Create a \u201cLocal Audience\u201d view or comparison<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Segment by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>State<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>County<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Radius around campus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Use this segment to evaluate admissions pages and application intent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When reviewing success, default to local data first.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the last 90 days, only 2 out of 7 top cities by user are local.
